What you will need: 

  1. U.S. Passport – You must provide your signed passport. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months and have a blank page available.
  2. Vietnam Visa Application Form – Please complete the online visa application* form on the Vietnam Website. Because the application changes on occasion, we’ve also provided a link to the Vietnam Embassy website  so you may get the most recent version directly from the Embassy website. The application form must be filled out completely, printed and signed. It must display your full name as appears in your passport, and it must be signed. In case of a loose-leaf visa request, provide one additional passport photo stapled to the application. *Please note, place of visa submission and collection should be marked as Vietnam Embassy in the United States of America.
  3. Washington Express Visas Visa Request Form – filled out completely.
  4. Photograph – Please provide two color, passport size photos. The photograph must be printed on photo paper, it must be 2″ by 2″ and have a white background, and it must have been taken in the last 6 months.

*Visa application must be typed, no handwritten applications will be accepted.

Business letter of introduction from your company (on company letterhead) addressed to the Embassy of Vietnam stating the purpose of travel, the name and contact of the company in Vietnam you’re visiting, and a financial guarantee for all of your expenses.   • 30 days, Single Entry:  $70 on up
  • 30 days, Multiple Entries:  $125 on up
  • 90 days Single Entry:  $100 on up
  • 90 days Multiple Entries: $150.00 on up
  • 6 Months, Multiple Entries – $165 on up
  • Multiple Entry 1 Year visa – $175  on up (US Passport holders only)
  • Rush Service $30 per visa (Next day after 2:30pm)
  • Same day $50  (In Addition to regular fees)

*The Embassy of Vietnam grants single entry visas to Non-US Passport holders only.

Yellow Fever vaccination required, if arriving within 6 days after leaving or transiting infected areas.

Exempt from Yellow Fever vaccination:

  • Children under 1 year.
  • Transit passengers not leaving the airport.
  • Those not leaving the airport in the areas concerned.

Recommended:

  • Malaria prophylaxis. Malaria risk – mainly due to P. falciparum – exists in the whole country excluding urban centres, the Red River Delta and the coastal plain areas of central Vietnam. High risk areas are the highland areas below 1500 m. south of 18 degrees N., notably the three central highlands provinces of Dak Lak, Gia Lai and Kon Tum, as well as the southern provinces of Ca Mau, Bac Lieu and Tay Ninh. Resistance to chloroquine, sulfadoxine-pyrimethamine and mefloquine reported.

Recommended prevention in risk areas: IV 

Passport required.

  • Passport and/or passport replacing documents must be valid for 6 months after the date of arrival.
  • If holding a visa for entry into Vietnam, passports are required to be valid at least one month after the expiry
    date of the visa.

Visa required, except for Holders a  Certificate of Visa Exemption  issued to former nationals of Vietnam residing abroad, or those nationals of Vietnam not holding a Vietnamese passport but only holding a foreign permanent resident card.

Visa Issuance:

  • On arrival: if required, provided holding a letter from Vietnamese Immigration confirming that a visa will be issued  on arrival. Passports should be valid 1 month after expiration date of the visa.

All visitors must hold:

a. documents required for next destination; and

b. sufficient funds for the duration of their stay; and

c. return/onward ticket, when not requiring a visa to enter Vietnam.
